I failed to write a post last week, and therefore decided to make that post up today. I went through the choices that I had through-out the week and found this post to be the one that I was most interested in taking on today.

Daily Post Prompt: groupTHINK

Some Background: I struggle with writing. It’s my dream though, I have thousands of ideas, but I lack that ability to actually focus, and the drive and ambition to get things done. I know this, and I’m trying to get over that and finally finish one of the story ideas. This is part of a conversation between a vicious ruling queen, and a werewolf type of man whom she has captured to build her army from.

“You’ve killed many of my men. For that, you deserve no mercy from me!” the Queen said in a low voice. Shades danced across her face as the candles that lit the room flickered in the wind. The man on the floor lay limp as her guards held his arms. Chains were strung across his back, shackling his wrists and his ankles. His hair was wet with sweat, and his skin streaked in blood.

“What are you?” she demanded, her eyebrows knotting together quizzical as she analyzed him. “Look at me when I speak to you, you  wretched animal!” Her voice picked up into an angry shout at the end, her words vibrating off the stone walls even causing several of her men to flinch. She was not known for her kindness. “I’m not the animal.”

The Queen’s facial expression softened into joyous delight, “How are you not? I have heard that you have the power of the wolf. You steal an animals form. Are there others like you?” The animal lifted his head, and the Queen’s dark blue eyes met with the warm brown of the creatures, and his lips parted, “I don’t know.”

“You don’t know?” the smile on her face twisted into an ugly sneer, “You don’t know! You are senseless like an animal. I have your life in my hands, to crush as I see fit!”

“Then crush it. You will not have power over me.” said the creature on stone floor. The Queen stood sharply, her height was not short, she barely stood below her men. The dress that adorned her body was simple, and of deep purple. Long dark curls swung loosely about her waist, and the sight of her was near beauty to behold. With long strides she reached  the creature. Her fingers reached out to grab his strong chin, and her long fingernails dug deep into the flesh of his jaw and cheeks, “No, that’s too good for you. You destroyed my warriors, you’ll create them. Stronger, and better.  Only after I have used you to a wrinkled starving mess will I kill you.” With a quick jerk, she pushed his face downward, “Take him to the Sorcerer! I want to know who and what he is, and where I can find others!”

Captive’s Choice

Daily Prompt Link: Captive’s Choice

I was given the option, and in that moment I was surprised that I would even be given the choice to pick my destination..  I quickly tried to run through a list of what could happen at each location, and the aspect of being locked in a large building was the most terrifying, my mind instantly began to draw pictures of zombie movies and other horrifying creatures. Given the situation that I was currently in, I concluded that the building could be closed off from the world even if I managed to escape the darkness, zombies and locked doors. What about gas chambers? Or lazers?

The option of the forest brought forth the images of being hunted. There had to be a reason that I was plucked from my normal existance and asked to make a choice. I decided then that being dropped into the forest sounded similar to the book, “The Most Dangerous Game”, and without a ounce of training, I would die quickly. Like a deer at a feeder barrel. There was a reason I was kidnapped, and I had to make the best choice for myself while expecting the worst.

“The island… is it habitable?” I ask, my voice quivering from fear. My last question had been answered with a closed fist, and I clenched my jaw expected the same treatment. “It’s an island.” said the man across from me inside the helicopter. He was wearing dark sunglasses, and a nice suit in grey. His hair was slicked back and thick black. He reminded me of rich business men, unaffected by anything as long as the money was right. He was conceited, his looks of importance to him. His fresh shaven face in the midst of a kidnapping told me that he had taken the time out to ensure he looked clean and put together.

“The island.” I mumbled.

“Ah, the island. Pilot, she chose the island!” he annouced, and after a few moments, the helicopter shifted and I swallowed the dread that came churring up at his excited annoucement of the island.
